Taif lies in the Sarawat mountains about 90 km south-east of Makkah, reached by the winding Al Hada road. The Prophet ﷺ travelled here to invite its people to Islam; pilgrims visit Masjid Abdullah ibn Abbas and Masjid Addas, and enjoy the cooler air, fruit markets and, in spring, the famous rose farms.
On the way back to Makkah the road passes the miqat of Qarn al-Manazil, where pilgrims who wish can enter Ihram for another Umrah.
